DJ Lisa Love started DJing in 1984. She was always watching DJ Smooth spin records at Ham's Place in South Fallsburg NY. Then one night he showed her how to operate the equipment. Next thing, he moved to Maryland and there was a job opening at the club. She was hired only because there was no one else. She was just playing records, fading in and out. How boring. DJ Smooth moved back to Monticello, one town over from South Fallsburg. She became his student and he gave her intense training on the art of DJing.
She is one of the few DJs who still blends. Scratching is cool, but blending shows a different kind of skill. Beat matching is important. She is careful not to distort the artists' voice or the musicians' music. This can happen if you speed the record up too fast or slow it down too much.
Her goal in 2007 is to become known worldwide. She is about to flip the whole game and put it down and represent for the ladies. Don't say we did not give you fair warning. Look out!!
She is a DJ because the music calms her soul and takes her to a place where she feels peace. The only other time she has a greater feeling is when she prays.
She is also a DJ Instructor for the Girls DJ 101 course that is given in Philadelphia by Rashida Holmes and Carolyn Chernoff.
